Music is everywhere in Bloomington. With perhaps the highest number of Symphony Orchestras per capita and the world-renowned Jacobs School of Music there is classical and jazz music available just about every day.

The city is also a hub of rock, folk, bluegrass and country music. Bars, concert halls and other music venues abound. There's lots of street music too.

The Lotus World Music & Education Foundation brings an unimaginably broad collection of world music to Bloomington throughout the year, and especially at the Lotus Festival each year in early fall.

Bloomington is the home of Secretly Canadian records and John Mellencamp. The Bloomington Early Music Festival is hosted here every May. Nearby Bean Blossom is the mecca of bluegrass music.
